Narrative Therapy

The way that I approach counselling focuses on the stories of people’s lives and how these have impacted on them.  It is from exploring these stories or experiences that new ways of understanding and/or viewing past or present situations or events can be uncovered.  This way of working supports the person as being in relationship to any difficulties that they may be facing, rather than taking a position of blame.  This can also allow space to explore other possible ways of looking at difficult situations or experiences, and talking about how you would like to approach these in the future.  This approach to counselling is called narrative therapy.  I am really happy to talk more about this approach to counselling when we meet.
